A great caribbean adventure at two of the best beaches in Panama
- The guide will pick you up in your hotel or accommodation in Panama City in a comfortable car and cross Panama in just 2 hours, from pacific to atlantic, to the spanish colonial city of Portobelo, founded more than 420 years ago, this was the main port at the atlantic coast of Panama when it was a spanish colony.
- You will visit the most popular places to see in this town, Bateria Santiago (Fort Santiago) with cannons, ramps and a sentry box and Fort San Jeronimo which is the best preserved fort originally built in 1664 but rebuilt with a slightly more modern design after the pirate attack in 1739 that destroyed it.
- It is also very interesting to visit the Customs House (Real Aduana de Portobelo), right next to Fort San Jeronimo, which once was the counting house of gold and silver.
- Besides the forts, in Portobelo, you can also see one of the most popular churches in Panama – San Felipe Church. This church is known for having the Black Christ statue which is one of the largest religious festivals in the country and it is held here every year on October 21st.
- After walking in Portobelo, the trip continues by car to a port where we will take a boat for a tour around a group of three islands, first stop is Linton Island (also known locally as Monkey Island) where we will try to find spider monkeys in our way to the first island, an island of mangroves.
- Hidden inside the mangroves there is a natural pool with crystal clear water where you can swim and enjoy a warm but refreshing bath in a surreal place.
- After enjoying a nice time at the pool, we go back on the boat and this caribbean adventure continues going through the Tunnel of Love, it is a channel inside a mangrove forest.
- Next stop is the second island, Mamey Island, uninhabited island full of natural beauty that make it one of the most beautiful beaches in Panama.
- Then we go by boat for 15 minutes to the last island, Grande island and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in one of the best beaches in Panama.
- First, we will land at a local restaurant in Grande Island where you could have delicious local food, seafood, caribbean dishes and drinks.
- Then we will walk to a hotel not far from the restaurant with one of the best beaches in Panama and the best in this island where you can enjoy a private area of the beach with crystal clear water and full access to showers and bathroom. The hotel also have bar where you could buy drinks at your own expense.
- You could walk around the island to see more about the locals and visit their shops.
- After enjoying the day in Isla Grande, it’s time to go back to Panama City. The boat will pick us up and take us back to the port, The beaches in Panama at the Atlantic ocean are beautiful, enjoy seeing the rainforest and sunset in the way back to Panama City by car.
